COLLAPSIBLE PUMP STATION & UNDERGROUND ACCESS HANDRAIL
For pump stations, underground utility vaults, below-grade electrical rooms, and water treatment access points. The handrail folds down below the floor plane, allowing the hatch door to fully close and secure the pit. When workers need to enter, the handrail extends into position at 42-inch guardrail height for safe ingress and egress from the stairs.

Collapsible Pump Station Handrail
Underground access hatches open to stairs or ladders, but standard handrails either block hatch operation or get removed entirely — leaving workers exposed at the opening. Removable handrails get taken down and never reinstalled. Pit covers are heavy and workers skip using them. Chains and netting are not true fall protection barriers.
The collapsible handrail eliminates that trade-off. It folds against the wall to allow full hatch clearance, then returns to full guardrail height. No removal. No storage. No loose rail sections. Workers actually use it because it takes under 60 seconds.
